In Germany, a bachelor degree typically lasts from three to quatre years, and the workload of the students is assessed on the basis of ECTS. Bachelor’s degrees are between 180 and 240 ECTS in Germany (or credits). The German universities have two semesters and each university calendar has a clear start and end dates. But the first half typically runs from early October to late March and the second half from early April to late September. Costs of studying in Germany
One of the best aspects of studying in Germany is that tuition at public universities is free (for students)! There are typically just small expenses, though some other miscellaneous costs to be spent on administrative fees per semester; these fees generally amount to only $200 to $300 depending on the institution. In some cases, a semester pass covering public transit for six months may also bill approximately $100. In comparison it is worth considering studying in German at a public university if your budget is tight, for private universities it can cost up to $22,850 per year.
The German Scholarship Program is just a kind of bursary for those in Germany who want to study abroad. The program serves highly skilled students from all over the world in participating universities in Germany financially and materially. This bursary is awarded at least two semesters and is about $350 a month. Also an alternative is the DAAD Scholarship Program, which is an organization that promotes international academic relations in Germany. In the DAAD programmes, teachers, scholars and researchers are exchanged mainly. A third choice for Erasmus Mundus students who are globally funded by Erasmus Mundus, which will allow foreign students to finance their education in Germany.
Student accommodation and visas to Germany
Although the expense of obtaining a degree abroad in Germany is very appealing, the cost of living can also be expensive. If you are a citizen of an EU or EEA republic, Germany and your home country should have a social protection agreement, meaning if you have public health insurance, you should also be protected in Germany. If your health insurance is not available in Germany, expect your health insurance program to be paid between $90 and $180 a month.
